Wintertime is here!
There will be special meals with close friends & family and traditions for every holiday between now and New Years.
Please consider shopping local this holiday season. Decorations, Gifts, and food can all be found locally with a little effort.
Christmas Trees farms are a great (Covid-safe)outing and many farms will cut the trees for you so don’t worry about that job! They are also a great source for fresh wreaths & centerpieces. There are quite a few farms scattered around Yamhill & Washington Counties.
Local artisans may have the perfect jam or jelly crafted for your table. Take a look at your local Farmer’s Market FB page or website to find an artisan with the exact product you’re looking for.
Need materials for a quick handmade project? Consider Lambs Tales roving or wool. Use roving to make amazingly lifelike critters or a custom coffee cup cozy to show support for your favorite team or movement!

Here are a few slightly less obvious uses for our products. This is not a comprehensive list! Let us know about your creative uses for our products and we might add them to next year’s version of this list!
Animals:
Wool roving & yarn make some amazing handicrafts possible. Felted needle project are quite the current rage among crafters. Re-usable coffee cup sleeves in custom team or company colors are a great gift idea, are “green” and work well!
Did you know that goats can eat poison oak, ivy and sumac without any ill effects? And they love Himalayan blackberries if you have noticed your blackberry canes multiplying. Maybe you want to start a goat rental company to eradicate rashes among your neighbors. Goats will eat practically anything so supervision is definitely required!
Herbs:
Rosemary is known as a tick & mosquito repellent. We can’t guarantee it’s effect, but it smells much better than bug spray! It also adds a lovely mild smell when hung to dry in attics or other potentially musty areas.
And if Rosemary fails to repel all the mosquitoes, just rub a little bit of lavender on it to kill the itch and reduce your stress levels at the same time!
Fruit:
Pressing Apples into cider is a fun fall/winter activity. Wait for the first frost and then track down a cider press. The flavor is amazing in fresh cider!
Ready to try your hand at natural dyes? Blueberries and cherries provide a soft, fully natural dye option. Perfect for tie-dye enthusiasts or if you wanted to turn a soft cream roving into a beautiful blue or crimson yarn!
