Winter Highlights

Oregon Coast & Whale Watching

Have you ever been on a weekend drive and found some place that is really unique, fun; some place you want to keep a secret?

The Oregon Coast is a fantastic place to whale watch as Gray whales migrate south in December and January.

There is a real thrill in straining your eye to see the first whale spout. Once you’ve seen one, you’ll be able to see many more along the same path.

One of my favorite lookouts is Devil’s punchbowl. If you are there on a stormy day prepare to get wet!

Here is a list of the top 26 spots to whale watch from the Visit the Oregon Coast Whale Watching website. https://visittheoregoncoast.com/whale-watching/

With this great fall weather, a special place to bicycle (or hike or paddle) is Hagg Lake.

There are over 13 miles of off road trails and about 10 miles of paved (shoulder) roads.

Coming around a quiet corner you may surprise deer, elk or coyotes. There are plenty of geese, ducks and smaller birds attracted to the secluded trees or waterways.

For more info check out the park website: https://www.co.washington.or.us/Support_Services/Facilities/Parks/Hagglake/

Have you ever been on a weekend drive and found some place that is really unique, fun; some place you want to keep a secret?

We live in a lush, fertile valley and the folks in Forest Grove are providing a great showcase of local products.

The Farmers Market runs every Wednesday evening May thru October on Main Street.

There are also a few indoor events scheduled for this Fall & Winter hosted at the Forest Grove Elks Lodge, 2810 Pacific Ave.

“Market vendors offer a wide selection of local goods ranging from fresh produce, eggs, meat, honey, baked goods and prepared foods to flowers, plant starts, hand-crafted soaps and more.”
